]]> http://www.1027church.com/three/feed 0 Orphan Care! http://www.1027church.com/orphan-care http://www.1027church.com/orphan-care#comments Wed, 19 May 2010 15:37:14 +0000 jonathan http://www.1027church.com/?p=212 On Mother’s day the Lord spoke clearly to 1027 about the culture of adoption that is emerging in our church and, hopefully, the Church as a whole.  We were encouraged by God’s grace and compassion as we looked at James 1 and the biblical mandate to take care of orphans.  We believe that in the days ahead God will continue to encourage us to adopt, help others adopt, pray for the adopting and the adopted, and celebrate in the process with our friends & family at 1027.  The generous people at icareaboutorphans.org gave us a box full of their incredible 20-page booklet that will be a beautiful resource for us as we take this journey together.  In addition…we found this beautiful story of some friends of 1027 that we wanted you to see.  Pure religion….GO!

It’s kind of like a pool party, but awesomer. We’ll drive up the road an hour & a 1/2 to Lake Oconee for good food, games, swimming, and water sports. The cost to cover gas and food is $10 per person or $15 dollars per family. Trust me…you do not want to miss this event. What could be a better way to kick off the summer than with your friendly neighborhood 1027 at one of Georgia’s most beautiful lakes! Ladies and Gentlemen it is my distinct honor and privilege to announce the dates of Summelife 2010!  “What’s Summerlife?” GREAT QUESTION.  Summerlife is how we gather in the months of Summer.  We shut down our normal weekly small group gatherings and replace them with incredibly fun, challenging, beautiful, and crazy gatherings where the whole church gets together to play, eat, grow, and serve.   The dates are below and we are begging you to mark them on your calendar, in fact if you’re at church this sunday we’ll even GIVE YOU A CALENDAR because we think Summerlife is worth it.  So mark it down and let’s share the summer together!
